Safe Harbor receives $2,500 from Kentucky Power

Kentucky Power donated $2,500 to KCADV's Purple Purse emergency fund to help survivors of domestic violence overcome barriers to financial independence and safety. Kentucky Power President Matt Satterwhite presented the check to Safe Harbor of Northeast Kentucky Executive Director Ann Perkins in Ashland.

KCADV Leads Statewide Rapid Re-Housing Program

For the first time, a Rapid Re-Housing Program is being taken statewide to help victims of domestic violence. Using a $259,000 grant from the Kentucky Housing Corporation, the state's network of 15 shelters will provide rental assistance to at least 40 women in any Kentucky county except Jefferson and Fayette. 

KCADV Names Champions for Justice

Rep. Joni Jenkins and State Crime Lab Director Laura Sudkamp received the “Champions for Justice” Award for their work on behalf of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault at the 18th Ending Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Conference in Lexington. A Champion of Justice Award was also given posthumously to Ian Sonego, a career prosecutor who worked to improve the state’s laws governing the prosecution of sexual assault and domestic violence perpetrators.

More than one dozen Allstate agents in The Center for Women and Families service area partnered with KCADV to collect school supplies for children of domestic violence survivors at The Center. The drive aims to helps kids show up for school prepared and to reduce financial burden on single moms in Jefferson, Bullitt, Shelby, and Oldham counties.
